they are amazing, a little harder/different set up but once set up I loved them
Been decorating my room and no one seemed to care about the effort I put in, but then I hung these bad boys up on the walls and people’s jaws drop now. They’re my lamp, my morning wake up notification, my sunset notification, my mood setter, everything.
I've loved my Canvas squares for a while, now, so when I saw the Hexes I just had to jump on them. I'm not disappointed, though I also knew what to expect going into it because of my prior experience with my squares.
Well-designed physically, the quality of the light panel itself is pretty good. I was a bit unhappy that the light is rounded at the corners rather than going to the edge like the squares do, but it doesn't look bad, just different. The panels are larger than the squares, also something I wasn't expecting, but that works for them, too. I like that the connectors snap in rather than simply sliding in. The light produced is very vibrant and playful, handling colour transitions quite well at good luminosity.
The thought given to the mounting process is a joke, and the included adhesive is all but worthless. I also had the same issue with my squares, so I had a plethora of 3M command strips for mounting that worked well but be prepared to discard the included adhesive and find a better solution yourself. Additionally, the software is a bit on the rough side, at least on Android (don't know about iOS), and I've had repeated issues getting panels set up properly at first over the years, with both of my canvases giving me issues and the hexes as well. Once they're set up, though, it's pretty stable and good. Voice control via Google Assistant works wonderfully, so long as their API server is functional. It's gotten significantly more stable over time, too, and I've not had any issues with the hexes being uncontrollable via Google Assistant just yet, but my canvases went through a few times each of a day or two of not working with voice commands because Google Assistant couldn't communicate with their server.
The pros greatly outweigh the cons, however. One of the cons is only related to the initial setup which should only be needed once or twice unless you like to rearrange your panels or move frequently, while the other is actually something that can be fixed in software and might disappear entirely one day. As I've mentioned, their API server has gotten loads better already.
Despite the couple of issues, I'd still give this product 5 stars because once it's up and running, it's gorgeous and amazing, while being so versatile. .
Great lights for my battlestation. Had issues with wifi but now works. Still can't get connected to google home... 4.5/5 stars
I love the look of Nanoleaf, picking up two orders of the Hexagon big bundle!
