Since sharing our recent vision, we’ve seen a lot of thoughtful questions about what this means for the future of Nanoleaf, especially around AI, robotics, and how they fit into the products people already know and love.
When new technologies enter the conversation, it’s natural to wonder where things are headed. Especially today, when “AI” often gets attached to products in ways that feel unnecessary, confusing, or disconnected from what people actually want.
So we want to be clear about something:
We’re not abandoning lighting or turning into a completely different company. Designing products and features that feel immersive, expressive, and personal is still the core of what we do, and what we’re excited to continue building.
(Also, we love making cool lights.)
On AI, and what it actually means for your lights
A lot of the conversation around AI focuses on abstract ideas, but for us, it’s much more practical: using new technology to create experiences that feel more responsive, personalized, and dynamic.
In fact, some features people already use every day have been built around advanced intelligent systems for quite some time.
Take our Orchestrator music visualizer, for example.
Orchestrator transforms music playing on your computer into synchronized lighting effects in real time through the Nanoleaf Desktop App. The system analyzes elements like rhythm, tempo, and intensity, then dynamically maps those patterns into lighting animations as the song plays.
That means:
-
High-energy tracks create faster, sharper transitions
-
Slower songs produce smoother fades and softer tones
-
Different genres generate distinct visual styles and movement
But instead of relying on one fixed set of pre-built effects, with the addition of AI the experience can adapt continuously based completely on each unique song.
The goal isn’t to make lighting more complicated. It’s the opposite: creating experiences that feel more natural, immersive, and alive in a way that elevates your everyday life.
That same philosophy will continue shaping how we approach future features and products.
On Robotics and Embodied AI

We also know many people are curious about what robotics and embodied AI could mean for Nanoleaf moving forward.
While we’re not ready to reveal everything just yet, we can say this confidently: these technologies are not a departure from what defines Nanoleaf. They’re an extension of it.
The intelligent features, ambient experiences, and connected environments that have always defined our products remain the foundation we’re building from.
What excites us about emerging technologies is the potential to make things feel even more adaptive, expressive, and intuitive in ways that fit naturally into our lives.
Years ago, customizable lighting itself felt unnecessary to some people. Now, dynamic lighting has become part of how millions of people personalize their spaces, entertainment setups, and routines every day.
When RGB lighting launched, plenty of people said "16 million colors? I just need one." But now, none of us would go back. Once the products in our future roadmap are revealed, we think the payoff will feel just as obvious, as we see the same potential in the next generation of experiences we’re building.
What's Not Changing
What will always be here to stay is the innovation and experiences that made you fall in love with Nanoleaf in the first place.
Those aren’t being replaced. They’re continuing to evolve and grow.
Thank You For You Passion
The conversations, questions, skepticism, and excitement all come from people who genuinely care about what Nanoleaf becomes next. And that passion matters to us.
We’re incredibly excited about what’s ahead, and we look forward to sharing that excitement as we’re able to show you what we’ve been working on.
There’s a lot more to come, and we think it’ll be worth the wait.
