I ordered the 12 pack and an expansion panel because I needed 13. The lights are very expansive which is a con to the lights but not for the function or anything. These lights do use WiFi 2.4 GHz which is why I am somewhat disappointed and knocking the score. You MUST connect these to a 2.4 network and I have a mesh at home that uses 2.4 and 5 GHz. The lights were not connecting properly and I couldn’t use the app to help. I had to use from my provider a router that uses strictly 2.4 GHz just to use these lights with all its features. I wish it was future proof to use both 2.4 and 5 GHz and even include Bluetooth. The lights all work off the main controller. So if they update this piece of the equipment in the future and make this device more capable it would more than worth the money. This product is only a year or so old which is a bummer. Outside of that the product looks great and provides the functionality that I need it for and provided the necessary light for my office space.

The Nanoleaf Skylight promises to illuminate your home with a vibrant tapestry of colors, transforming any room into a dynamic canvas. However, my experience with this product has been marred by a frustrating and perplexing design flaw that significantly limits its usability and casts a shadow on its innovative aspirations.

The most egregious issue lies in the Skylight's rigid communication wire requirements. For the lights to function as intended, they must be in direct contact with each other. This limitation becomes a major stumbling block when you need to install the lights around a corner or any other architectural feature that requires more than a couple millimeters of distance. In my case, the provided communication wire was woefully inadequate, leaving me unable to complete my installation as envisioned.

My attempts to rectify this issue through Nanoleaf's technical support channels proved equally frustrating. I was informed that they do not offer longer communication wires or couplers to link multiple wires together, leaving me with a product that was essentially useless for my needs.

This crucial information was conspicuously absent from Nanoleaf's website and marketing materials, leading me to believe that the Skylight offered a more versatile solution. The lack of transparency surrounding this design flaw is particularly disappointing and leaves potential buyers in the dark, quite literally.

While the Skylight undoubtedly boasts impressive features and a captivating aesthetic, this fundamental design flaw severely hampers its functionality and leaves a bitter taste in the mouth of anyone who encounters it. I urge Nanoleaf to address this issue promptly and provide a more flexible wiring solution for their customers. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend the Nanoleaf Skylight to anyone who values practicality and versatility in their smart home lighting solutions.
