This limitation becomes a major stumbling block when you need to install the lights around a corner or any other architectural feature that requires more than a couple millimeters of distance. In my case, the provided communication wire was woefully inadequate, leaving me unable to complete my installation as envisioned.
My attempts to rectify this issue through Nanoleaf's technical support channels proved equally frustrating. I was informed that they do not offer longer communication wires or couplers to link multiple wires together, leaving me with a product that was essentially useless for my needs.
