I am on my 5th box of 3 lights and every time I get them, I am more impressed by what they can do. Don’t forget, the more you have in your house, the more the thread network grows and becomes more and more redundant. Add the lights to the Nanoleaf app and then when connecting to matter, it will automatically add it to Apple Home. Simple as that. Only downside is that it takes about 10 minutes per bulb to do the firmware updates required when you first purchase them.
The product is very buggy. It is much less reliable than many cheaper products online. I ended up removing them entirely and putting them in storage. It was a waste of money. I will not buy any Nanoleaf products again
Sense+ doesn’t work w/ Nanoleaf Light strips. After waiting 7+ yrs for physical controls for Nanoleaf bulbs and Light Strip devices and just shy of 3yrs of the unveiling of the Sense+ product, sense+ are not HomeKit or matter so it only exists in the junk, only portrait, Nanoleaf app. Bitterly disappointed in the company and sense+ device.
I was unable to get the bulbs to connect to Thread and show up in the Apple Home app despite many tries. After reaching out to support, it took a week to hear back. The initial suggestion was to factory reset the devices (which were presumably already in their factory default state given they didn’t work out of the box). This didn’t work, and it took a week before I got follow up troubleshooting steps. These steps were more detailed, but still didn’t help. After a firmware update, 5 factory resets, and many combinations of pairing via the Nanoleaf and Home apps, the bulbs still aren’t showing up in the Home app and seem to only connect in Nanoleaf via Bluetooth rather than Thread.
Get these if you enjoy troubleshootings
Connect the bulbs to nanoleaf app, then want to connect with Alexa, error.
Reset
Wanted to pair these bulbs with Alexa directly, all of them (12) requires firmware update before pairing process could be completed, each take 2 minutes or more.
Alexa with mutiple thread boarder routers in network ( two Echo studios, one Echo 4th gen), creates unexpected heavy data traffic to the router at home, eventually the whole network is down and requires reboot.
Gave up connecting these to Amazon Echo,
Reset everything, connect to nanoleaf app first, then to Apple Home, HomePod mini as thread router, Nanoleaf app shows bulbs on Thread, observe the wireless traffics in home internet network, unexpected traffiic seen.
More reseach shows IPv6 is required for muti-admin, turned on this in home interent, loop all the above processes, NO LUCK
Current stable steup is AVIOD nanoleaf app, give up the features in app, use Apple Home adaptive lighning, add Alexa as muti-admin control.
