So far I’ve had the nanoleaf array on my wall for two weeks. I’ve had to re-secure a couple of the tiles due to the sticky tabs failing. Overall I’m pleased with the lights themselves. They are very bright (which can be adjusted), and work as advertised. The triangles are also very durable and well made. However, the instructions for installation were poor at best. The basic diagrams were not at all informative about pairing with the app or how to create a useful layout. The app itself is not super user friendly. It took finding a YouTube video to finally solve for syncing it correctly and a soft reset on the lights themselves. Once connected they interact well. The app comes with just a handful of presets which given the product seems ridiculously small. Personally, I was expecting a large library of visual options instead of ten. You can of course create your own, which is time consuming with trial and error to get colors precise. It’s a color wheel interaction which again, is hard to use even though I’m an artist and understand color theory. — Given what Nanoleaf costs, the app should be improved with lots of preset choices available out of the box. Setup instructions should be clearer or function as advertised, i.e. barcode scan should work, which mine did not.
Overall I like the product and given its build quality, I think it’s just a bit overpriced. The app needs a redesign and update making it more user friendly with a lot more preset options for color designs.
